Gateway Skydiving Center with it’s reputation for the best skydiving center in Illinois and beyond located at: 1374 Sky Lane, Greenville, IL 62246 near Carlyle Lake has a tradition of over 50 years in skydiving. Our mission is to create a fun and friendly environment for our first time and experienced jumpers alike while putting safety first.

Carlyle Lake
Carlyle Lake is a 25,000 acres (101.2 km2) reservoir largely located in Clinton County, Illinois, with smaller portions of the lake within Bond and Fayette counties. It is the largest man-made lake in Illinois, and the largest lake wholly contained within the state.
Carlyle Lake has five developed campgrounds with more than 300 campsites. The lake also has five beaches, numerous boat ramps, and access areas for outdoor recreational enthusiasts to enjoy.
Carlyle Lake is a multi purpose lake that was built for the primary purpose of flood risk management. The lake also supports commercial navigation, water supply, water quality, fish and wildlife conservation, and recreational swimming.
What scenery to expect
Once the gear is on and we go over the procedures, we are ready for takeoff! Plane ride up takes about 20 minutes. Try to relax and enjoy the view. At this point we will go over exit, freefall and landing procedures one more time.
View from the airplane is the special experience, you can see the whole area from the above.
Specially when skydiving in sunset/sunrise. You are then presented with the amazing colors of the land that spread over the lake creating an art. And that scenery you will be able to remember your whole life.

I cannot thank this crew enough for the awesome first-time experience. And I went from not even realizing that you could jump locally, to thinking I was just going to see people jump, to being offered and going in less than a 2-hour window, and it was a bit of a whirlwind for me. I don’t think I ever actually said “thank you” and wanted to be sure you all heard it! I sincerely appreciate how welcoming, kind, and knowledgeable Clayton (my dive buddy) and the entire team were to work with.
