Real Skydiving VS Indoor Skydiving

Indoor skydiving, also known as vertical wind tunnel skydiving, has become increasingly popular in recent years. While the rumors of wind tunnel coming to St. Louis, MO near Top Golf in Chesterfield,MO (5 years in making) the closest one to us is in Chicago and Kansas City… Indoor skydiving provides an opportunity for thrill-seekers to experience the feeling of skydiving without jumping out of a plane. However, indoor skydiving is not the same as real skydiving from an airplane. In this blog, we will compare the two and explore their differences.

Equipment and Environment

One of the most significant differences between indoor skydiving and real skydiving is the equipment used and the environment in which the activity takes place.

Indoor skydiving uses a vertical wind tunnel that is a large tube with a powerful vertical air current. Participants wear a jumpsuit, helmet, goggles, and earplugs. They enter the wind tunnel and float on the air current, simulating the feeling of freefall.

On the other hand, real skydiving involves jumping out of an airplane at an altitude of around 10,000 feet or higher. A tandem skydive requires the participant to be harnessed to a qualified instructor who deploys the parachute and guides the participant to a safe landing.

Safety…..

Safety is a significant concern in any activity, but even more so in activities that involve falling from high altitudes.

Indoor skydiving is generally considered safer than real skydiving since you are inside of a windy tube but just like anything else there is a trade of. Jumping out is the best part…Ground rush and flying around with your parachute Isa real human flight.

Real skydiving is also considered safe if proper precautions are taken. Gateway Skydiving Center has an outstanding safety record out of any skydiving centers in the Mid-West…. Participants are required to undergo training and are connected to a qualified instructor during the skydive. However, there is always an element of risk involved with real skydiving due to its exposure to natural elements and the inherent risks of falling from high altitudes.

Indoor skydiving and Tandem skydiving require a short training session, typically lasting around 30 minutes. The training includes a briefing on safety, instructions on body positioning and movement and landing… Indoor skydiving Is a good option for kids to get them exposure on basic human body flight

Experience

Finally, the experience of indoor skydiving and real skydiving is different.

Indoor skydiving provides a unique and thrilling experience. Participants experience freefall in a controlled environment, with the ability to practice body positioning and movement. However, the experience is limited to the wind tunnel, and the flight time is generally short.

Real skydiving provides an experience that cannot be replicated in a wind tunnel. Participants jump out of a plane, experience the thrill of freefall, and enjoy the breathtaking views of the earth below. Real skydiving provides a more profound sense of accomplishment and satisfaction.

Conclusion

In conclusion, indoor skydiving and real skydiving are two different activities that provide participants with different experiences. Indoor skydiving is generally considered safer and less expensive, while real skydiving provides a unique and life-changing experience. However, both activities require proper safety equipment, training, and adherence to safety protocols to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience. Ultimately, the choice between indoor and real skydiving depends on personal preference, budget, and level of risk tolerance.
